What is the temperament of a Goldendoodle?
What size of Goldendoodles do we breed?
A lot of breeders will classify their sizes differently, we breed Petite (13-18 lbs,) Miniature (18-35 lbs,) and Medium (35-45 lbs.) We do not guarantee the size our puppy will be as an adult. These are just estimates, many factors (that we have no control over) play into a dog’s adult weight such as; when they are spayed/neutered, the nutritional value of the food they eat, and of course their ancestors.
What does F1, F1b, Multigen, etc mean?
These letters and numbers refer to the generation of a Goldendoodle (of any size.)
- F1 = Golden Retriever X Poodle, 50% Golden Retriever 50% Poodle. F1 Coats are almost always the wavy-plush coats. F1’s can be low-no shedding or shed as much a pure golden retriever depending on their genetics. We do not raise F1’s but our mama Lucy is a F1. Lucy carries the TT for shedding and does not shed.
- F1b = F1 X Either a Poodle or Golden Retriever, most are bred back to a Poodle producing 25% Golden Retriever and 75% Poodle. In an F1b litter approximately 1/2 of the litter will have the same coat genetics as an F1 and the other 1/2 will have two copies of the curl coat and furnishings genes. This means that half of the litter will have the wavy plush coats more similar to an F1 and the other half will have the curly coats. Past F1b puppies have been extremely low to non-shedding and are normally great choice for moderate to severe allergy families. Our mama Piper is a F1b.
- Multi-generation = Goldendoodle X Goldendoodle. In our breeding program our multi generational puppies are essentially the same genetically as an F1b as far as parent breed percentages. We can be sure of this because we do genetic testing through Embark and have matched our Goldendoodle pairings to produce this result. Coats will have similar coat varieties like the F1b litters, they are also the most predictable generation for size and coat qualities. This generation is a great choice for families with moderate to severe allergies. Our mama Swayze, and daddy Toby are multi-gen Goldendoodles.
Which gender is a better choice, Male or Female?
All my life I have owned dogs, males and females, in my opinion one is not better than another. I believe that training and socialization make a bigger difference than gender. Our females are just as lovable as our males, and the males are just as trainable as our females. Because we firmly believe that training is so important we have partnered with www.baxterandbella.com They are a fantastic company that offers online training so it is assessable to anyone with an internet connection. Why is socialization so important?
Early socialization is not just important but crucial! Between the age of 3 days old and 16 weeks is when puppies are most excepting of new experiences and objects. Puppies in this phase are like little sponges, soaking up information about the world and learning what is and isn’t safe. It is our job to teach them that the world is a safe place. Our puppies are handled and played with daily, beginning with ENS training (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja6E4xa-6Hs&t=185s) and Puppy Culture practices starting on day 3 until the day they go home. We encourage our families to continue many socialization practices after they take their puppy home. https://www.gooddog.com/courses/summer-of-socialization We are intentional in the way we socialize and play with our puppies to help them learn that people and other dogs are safe and loving. They are raised with children in the home and are socialized to people of all ages as well as other dogs of all sizes while they are with us. We want to create confident puppies that are not afraid of new people, dogs or situations. With lots of love and patience, we help your puppy learn that the world is a great place to be a dog!
How do I get my puppy if I live far away?
You are always welcome to come visit our cute little town and pick up your puppy! For a $50 travel charge we can meet you at the Boise Airport. Flight Nannies are another great option, (one of our nannies will fly your puppy to an airport near you.) This service starts at $300 plus any costs associated with the flight (airline ticket, pet fee, etc.) Some major airlines will fly puppies Cargo, we only recommend this option if it is a short flight. We are happy to help you make any of these arrangements.

What health testing do you require and why do you think its important?
We love our dogs and want to give them the best chance of having a long and healthy life. Puppies can only be as healthy as their parents. Before our dogs enter our breeding program we run a series of tests on them. Our tests include a full Embark DNA health panel that test for over 170 breed specific diseases, PennHIP which is a radiographic screening method for hip evaluation, as well as OFA hips, elbows, heart, and eyes. Because we take the health of our puppies/dogs very seriously, we feel that these tests are extremely important to our program.
